We stumbled on these 3 great guys at Low Gap Shelter comparing the conditions of the trails and wilderness:
Razor - hired as a trail runner by the Appalachian CC to assess the trails and shelters
Jake - works with the Wilderness Society
Robert - works with the GA US Forest Service
All three obvious have a great love and respect for the area and some GREAT stories.
They also have some very discouraging stories about how much waste they've been finding in the area....In one month one of the guys hauled sixty lbs of trash out of the wilderness. Everyone thinks their one little bit of trash won't matter. All the more reason to "Pack it in, Pack it out"
